INSIDE XFAM

XFAM isn't just a group.. Its A FAMILY !! Started by Shakir Kelly and his group of friends, XFAM started out as a brotherhood of friends who lived in the same community in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. Shakir and his friends would hangout all the time, from that they would rap battle and freestyle just for fun. Shakir realized he was good at freestyling, so from that he started writing down lyrics which turned into him writing songs. Shakir and his friends had nowhere to record and nobody to help, so he began to teach himself the process of recording and the basics of mixing. Along the way of teaching himself he acquired a laptop and mic from a friend which fueled his passion even more. From then one he began recording and mixing the song he and his friends would make together. As years passed he gained experience in using different DAW's and gained a good knowledge of recording and mixing. As they got better he realized something special was being created amongst them, he realized that they could make music that was better than the new music coming out at that time. The only thing that was stopping them was the quality of music they were producing. From there he decided to attend Full Sail University were his idol Leslie Brathwaite graduated from. He believed if he got the right tools and the fundamentals that nothing would be able to stop them from creating the best quality music that they could create. So Shakir decided to turn XFAM into not only a brotherhood, but a label and entertainment company. With all the talent they have he figured that XFAM would be a perfect opportunity to show people that great things can be built from the ground up.
